Fossefall and NG Nordic to Give Used GPUs a Second Life
Fossefall and NG Nordic have entered into a strategic partnership to give used graphics processing units (GPUs) a second life through reuse and recycling. The partnership helps extend the lifespan of critical AI infrastructure and supports the development of a more resource-efficient AI industry in the Nordics.

Under the partnership, NG Nordic will manage GPUs that are retired from Fossefall's AI infrastructure. GPUs are the engine of modern AI systems and provide much of the computing power required to develop and run artificial intelligence. Even after they have been removed from the most demanding AI environments, many GPUs still have a long technical lifespan and significant value.
Over the coming years, Fossefall will invest at least USD 30 billion in GPUs. As a developer and operator of AI factories, the company wants to help ensure that this infrastructure is managed safely and responsibly throughout its lifecycle. NG Nordic will manage the entire value chain, from collection and secure data erasure to testing, refurbishment, and resale.
AI factories must be built with responsibility for the entire lifecycle. Our partnership with NG Nordic gives us a model for safe and efficient management of GPUs. It also shows how strong Nordic partnerships can contribute to more sustainable AI infrastructure
The partnership builds on Fossefall's approach to taking responsibility for the full AI infrastructure value chain. Unlike traditional data center operators, Fossefall manages the entire value chain, from developing powered sites to building, operating, and delivering AI services. The company is developing AI factories in Norway, Sweden, and Finland, with an ambition to build up to 1 gigawatt of AI capacity by 2030.
GPUs are among the most valuable and resource-intensive components in modern IT infrastructure. We have extensive experience in giving used IT equipment a second life in a safe and documented way. We are proud to bring this expertise into the AI sector together with Fossefall.
The shared goal is to extend the lifespan of critical AI infrastructure and contribute to a more resource-efficient AI industry in the Nordics.
